How do you remove a wild Oceanside animal stuck in a dumpster?

There are various methods of releasing a wild Oceanside animal that appears to be stuck in a dumpster but first of all you should realize if you have dumpsters around the area that if the lids are left open and people put food scraps into them then they become very attractive to a whole bunch of critters. The prime candidate for getting itself stuck in a dumpster has got to be a raccoon, especially young ones. They can smell the food scraps from 50 feet away and if they're hungry all they can think of is getting to the food, also due to the fact that they can climb just about anything they don't realize that a vertical steel wall is probably beyond their climbing capabilities, again especially if they are young ones.

One option I've actually seen written was that you just close the dumpster lid and let the California animal die, I cannot imagine a much crueler way to kill an animal, having it either die of dehydration or starvation, also doing this is highly illegal and would definitely be classed as cruelty by any authority. If you don't wish to try and remove the animal yourself you can always call your local animal control or again, your local wild animal rehabilitator. These days a lot of raccoons are urban animal's, they were all in an urban area, their mother taught them how to survive in an urban area but some things, like dumpsters she probably didn't include in their lessons which is why about 90% of all animals trapped in dumpsters are young raccoons.

The easiest way to get an Oceanside animal out of a dumpster is with a net attached to a pole, scoop the animal up in the net, which sounds easy but usually isn't, lift it out of the dumpster and put it on the ground, the animal will then usually run away. I've actually seen photos of a man who rescued a young raccoon from a dumpster was a broom, he held the broom in front of the raccoon and the animal clung to it as he was lifted out of the dumpster, the young raccoon jumped off the broom when it was a few feet off the ground and bolted but this is a very good example of the intelligence level of raccoons, this one took a big chance but the alternative was probably much less attractive.

The next easiest way to release a California animal from a dumpster is to either put a plank of wood into the dumpster so it can climb out or put a heavy rope, at least a 1 inch diameter, in a similar position so the animal can use it to climb out, be careful when doing either of these because the animal might decide as soon as it sees it that now is the time to leave the dumpster quickly.
