How to get Oceanside rodents out of the attic.

There are numerous ways to go about getting any wild animal, Oceanside rodents included, out of your attic once they tried to set up residence. The first thing you need to ascertain once you think you have an animal moved in to your attic, and that is, what animal is it and how many of them are there, you don't need an exact headcount just the general idea will do because there are certain things that you will know almost immediately that you find out what it is that is making the noise in the attic.

If you find out that your unwanted guest is a single creature, like a single California squirrel or a single raccoon and it is either very late in winter or very early in spring then the animal in question is almost certainly a female who is pregnant, she is looking for someplace to have her nest and to raise her young and your attic looks pretty good to her, it is dry, it is warm and it is dark, those are three of the top four things she's looking for in a nest site, the other thing is a source of food and water and if you live in an urban environment those are both very close most likely.

Now on the other hand if you have Oceanside rats and mice there will always be more than one and unless you get on top of a problem real fast then you will have many many of these rodents living in your house in short order, both rats and mice breed profusely and can have up to five litters of babies every year if the conditions are right and can have a maximum of 14 babies per litter but generally seven is more usual but that still takes you from two rats to 37 rats in one year. With smaller rodents, like squirrels, rats and mice most professionals use snap traps to kill animals as they are caught, a lot of homeowners do not like the idea of killing squirrels but have little compunction about killing rats and mice so squirrels are likely to be either live trapped or excluded.

The biggest problem with getting any California rodents out of the attic is actually keeping them out, if you chase them out one day they will be back a couple of days later, and after some time of this backwards and forwards you might think you are making your own version of the movie Groundhog Day. Rodents are particularly adept at gaining entrance to places you don't want them in, you can spend a lot of money and a lot of time ceiling up all of the holes they could possibly use only to find a few days later that the squirrel or other rodent has just eaten a new hole through your wall. The absolute best and only sure fire way to exclude them from the attic is to hire some professionals who will go around inside the roof and put up heavy-duty steel wire mesh that they cannot get through, even then they still will try every now and again.
